A truck traced across town, a matching tire at his rental property, and Fernandez on tape calling Bridegan a "keyboard warrior"

This was the day the state tried to build its chain. Detectives walked jurors through surveillance video tracking a two-tone blue and gold Ford F-150 across Jacksonville Beach — a truck they traced to Henry Tenon's father, not to Fernandez. They described DNA linking Tenon to the tire left in the road, and boots and a jacket of Tenon's that matched what the shooter wears in the footage. Then came the two pieces that reach toward Fernandez: a tire matching the roadblock found at his Potomac Avenue rental property, and check stubs recovered from the truck showing three handwritten checks totaling $10,000 written by Fernandez to Tenon in March and April 2022 — after the murder. Prosecutors also played a 50-minute recording of Fernandez's March 1, 2022 police interview, taken before he was a suspect, in which he described Bridegan as a "keyboard warrior" rather than someone confrontational, complained about the custody fights, and speculated about the killing: "It's a big speculation... I don't understand why he got out of the car." Lead detective Chris Johns also explained a tactic the jury will hear more about — using the public announcement of Tenon's arrest as a deliberate "tickle" to get people talking on a court-authorized wiretap: "It's an event that is basically prearranged by law enforcement.
